On Wednesday, January 27th, city commissioners passed an ordinance in Tallahassee to allow all city establishments that serve alcohol to stay open until 4:00 am. This will be the new rule for all types of restaurants and bars and is much later than the current 2:30 am closing time. Establishments will still have to abide by the city’s rule that beer, wine, and liquor sales halts at 2:00 am, but they can continue to stay open and sell food during those last two hours.
City commissioners understood that local bars and nightclubs would benefit financially by staying open later by selling food and tickets to special events. This new ordinance will go into effect in 30 days.
